Check my lot

Legal

Privacy policy

Last updated October 2026.

The short version. You can check your lot without telling us who you are. If you give us your details and ask for a builder introduction, they go to one licensed builder in your city and nobody else. California law counts that as a sale of personal information, so you can tell us not to at any time and we will honour it permanently.

Who we are

Coastline Homes is a planning and referral service operating in Riverside County, California. We are not a licensed contractor, we do not design or build anything, and we do not provide legal or engineering advice.

What we collect

When you use the lot check

The address you type. We send it to Riverside County's public geocoder and assessor parcel service to find your parcel boundary, and we cache the resulting parcel geometry so repeat lookups of the same property do not hammer the county's servers. That cache is keyed to the address and parcel, not to you.

We do not require your name, email, or phone number to show you the result. If you close the tab at that point, we have an address in a cache and nothing that identifies you.

Your lot is saved in your own browser, not on our servers. Tracing your house and outbuildings takes real work, so the tool keeps the lot you looked up and every change you made to it in your browser's local storage, and reopens it when you come back. That copy stays on your device — it is never sent to us, and we cannot read it. It is discarded automatically after 30 days, is replaced the moment you look up a different address, and clearing your browser's site data for this site removes it immediately. It holds the parcel we drew, not your name or contact details, because at that point we do not have them.

When you request the written report

Only if you fill in the form:

  • Your name, email address, and optionally your phone number.
  • The property address and the parcel we matched to it, including the APN.
  • The results we calculated — lot size, buildable area, which plan you tried, and whether it fit.
  • What you told us about your goal, timeline, and financing, if you chose to answer.
  • The exact consent wording displayed on your screen when you submitted, with a timestamp, your IP address and your browser's user agent string. We keep the wording itself rather than a yes/no, so there is a record of what you actually agreed to even if we reword the form later.

Automatically

Standard server request logs through Cloudflare, which hosts this site. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising trackers, session recording, or any third-party marketing tag. There is no cookie banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to: the only thing we put in your browser is the lot you looked up, kept there so you do not lose your work, and it is not used to track you here or anywhere else.

What we do with it

  • Produce and email the report you asked for.
  • Call you once, personally, to go through it and answer questions. This is a real person, not a call centre and not an autodialer campaign.
  • If you ask for it, introduce you to the one licensed builder we work with in your city.
  • Improve the tool in aggregate — for example, noticing that a city's parcel data fails on a particular street pattern.

Who we share it with

One builder, in your city, only if you ask. We work with a single exclusive builder per city. We tell you who they are before we make the introduction. We do not sell to lead aggregators, we do not list your details on a marketplace, and we do not share them with multiple contractors to bid against each other.

Service providers who process data on our behalf, and only for that purpose:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, the database that stores leads, and bot protection.
  • Resend — sending email.
  • Riverside County GIS — receives the address you enter, in order to return a parcel.

We will also disclose information where the law actually requires it, which we expect to be never.

This counts as a sale, and we say so

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, "sale" means disclosing personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration. We are paid by builders for qualified introductions. So when we hand your details to your city's builder, that is a sale of personal information under Cal. Civ. Code §1798.140(ad), whatever the industry prefers to call it.

Many companies in this space structure their disclosures to avoid saying that. We would rather say it, because it is what gives you the right to stop it and because the alternative is a privacy policy that contradicts how the business actually works.

Your rights in California

  • Know what we have collected about you, and get a copy.
  • Delete it, subject to the records we must keep.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing — use Do not sell or share my information. There is a permanent link to it in the footer of every page, and it never expires.
  • Non-discrimination. The lot check stays free and identical whether you opt out or not.

Email privacy@example.com and we will respond within 45 days, usually much sooner. We may need to verify you are the person the record belongs to before we act on a request.

Calls and texts

We only call or text you if you gave us a number and agreed to it. This is the exact wording you will see above the submit button:

By submitting this form I agree that Coastline Homes may email and call or text me about my ADU project at the number and address I provided, including by automated means. I understand that if I tick the builder option on this form, my details and this report will be shared with the one licensed builder Coastline Homes works with in my city; that California law treats that sharing as a sale of personal information; and that I can opt out at any time. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply.

You can withdraw it at any time by replying STOP to a text, saying so on the phone, or emailing us. Consent is never a condition of using the tool or getting the report.

How long we keep it

  • Cached parcel geometry: 90 days, then re-fetched from the county.
  • Lead records: while your project is active and for a period afterwards, because consent records are a legal defence and deleting them immediately would leave us unable to show what you agreed to. Ask us to delete and we will, keeping only the minimum the law requires.
  • Suppression list: permanently, on purpose. It only holds enough to recognise you — an email address and phone number — because forgetting that you opted out would defeat the point of opting out.

Children

This is a service for property owners. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes to how we share information will be announced on this page rather than quietly edited in. Consent records already stored keep the wording that was shown at the time.
